![]() | Prof. Takis MathiopoulosUniversity of Athens, Greece Takis Mathiopoulos (SM’94) received his Ph.D. in digital communications from the University of Ottawa. He has worked at Raytheon Canada and the University of British Columbia. He served as Director and Director of Research at the Institute for Space Applications and Remote Sensing, National Observatory of Athens, where he built the Wireless Communications Research Group. He has held visiting professorships at universities in China and Japan. Currently, he is a Professor of Telecommunications at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His research interests cover physical‑layer digital communications for terrestrial/satellite systems, remote sensing and IoT. He has co‑authored over 120 journal papers, 140+ conference papers and one edited book. He received the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee Award for outstanding contributions to satellite and space communications. He has served as TPC Vice‑Chair and Co‑Chair for multiple IEEE conferences, served on journal editorial boards, and acted as scientific‑technical expert for the European Commission. He has delivered numerous keynote/plenary talks worldwide. |
